Opportunities to Give.

Why we give

‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ say the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.’ Malachi 3:10

This is the only place in the Bible that we are told, by God, that we can ‘test’ God. That tithing opens up the floodgates of heaven. Both for us as individuals and collectively as a church.

But it’s not just an Old Testament principle!

“On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.” 1 Corinthians 16:2

“Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Paul, in the two scriptures above, sets the foundation for New Testament giving. Giving based upon Grace which exceeds the Law! Our giving is in response to God’s lavish generosity towards us.

If you pay tax you may choose to fill in a gift aid form here as we can reclaim tax paid on donations made by individual tax payers.
